Gynaecology

Dr Meghan Stafford is a highly experienced gynaecologist with over 15 years in medical practice and surgery. She welcomes girls and women of all ages for gynaecology concerns and preventative women’s health care.

Dr Meghan’s first concern is always putting patients at ease and presenting medical information in a way that is easy to understand. Her calm, nurturing manner and expertise lets patients know they are in safe hands —whether it’s a teenager’s first gynaecology appointment, coming up with an action plan for managing menopause, or conducting a laparoscopy to investigate endometriosis.

Dr Meghan is experienced in a wide range of gynaecological conditions.

These include peri and post menopausal issues, menstrual abnormalities, sexual pain, abnormal pap smears, adolescent gynaecology, contraception, and pelvic pain. She also carries out colposcopies, laparoscopies, and mirena insertions and removals.

Minor procedures take place in her rooms at City Fertility in Newstead, while surgeries are carried out at either Spring Hill Day Hospital or St Andrew’s War Memorial Hospital.

Please note that there are certain procedures or conditions that Dr Stafford normally refers to other doctors who are highly specialised in that particular area of gynaecology or surgery. These include hysterectomy, urinary gynaecology (including prolapse), and severe endometriosis. She will be happy to provide recommendations for those gynaecologists.

I know that seeing a gynaecologist can be a vulnerable experience — or at the very least an appointment that a woman rarely approaches with enthusiasm. I do everything I can to create a safe space for my patients to share their concerns and feel comfortable with me.

In turn, I keep abreast with the latest developments in medical knowledge so I can provide the patients with the very best treatments and advice. I also pride myself on helping my patients understand the medical terminology, so that they walk out of my rooms with a clear understanding of what’s happening in their bodies, and what their options are moving forward.”
